FAQs about the EKV Awards
I am not member of one of the fraternities or of the associations of the EKV. Can I apply for the Awards nevertheless?
No, the awards are just for members organized within the EKV.
What criteria theses are assessed by the jury?
Each thesis is assessed within each category (i.e. Bachelor or Master) in the following three aspects:
- Are the explanations and the structure of the work clear and understandable in general?
- How progressive or advantageous is the thesis for the development of Europe?
- In how far the thesis points out new problems and solutions in Europe and in its unification process?
Who are the jury members?
The jury consists of six university professors from totally different disciplines.
In the title of my thesis Europe does not occur. Can I submit anyway?
Yes, if the thesis partially deals with a topic on European level. If you, for example, explain the extraction of raw materials within Germany and you compare them with other European countries, then a part of your thesis deals with an European topic.
Can I send several theses within a tender?
If you have written those theses within the required period of beginning 2015 until June 2016 and they have an European topic, we are glad to read several theses from you.
When will I know who won the prizes?
In mid-November the winner will be known and will be informed.
My branch of study was a diploma programme, so I wrote a diploma thesis and not a bachelor or master thesis. Can I apply for the Awards?
Yes, of course! We will rank the thesis either equal to the bachelor or the master, depending on the program and its credits (normally equal to the master).

Ich bin nicht Mitglied einer der Verbindungen oder einer der Verbände innerhalb des EKVs. Kann ich trotzdem an der Ausschreibung teilnehmen?
Leider nein, die Preise sind ausschließlich für Kartellschwestern und Brüder, welche innerhalb des EKVs organisiert sind, vorgesehen.
Nach welchen Kriterien werden die Abschlussarbeiten von der Jury bewertet?
Jede Abschlussarbeit wird innerhalb ihrer Kategorie (also Bachelor oder Master) nach folgenden drei Aspekten bewertet:
- Wie verständlich sind die Erklärungen und der Aufbau der Arbeit generell?
- Wie fortschrittlich bzw. vorteilhaft ist die Arbeit für die Entwicklung Europas?
- In wie weit zeigt die Arbeit neue Probleme und Lösung Europas bzw. seinem Einigungsprozess auf?
Wer sind die Jurymitglieder?
Die Jury besteht aus fünf Universitätsprofessoren aus unterschiedlichsten Fachrichtungen.
Im Titel meiner Abschlussarbeit kommt Europa nicht vor. Kann ich sie trotzdem einsenden?
Ja, wenn die Abschlussarbeit teilweise mit einem Thema auf europäischer Ebene beschäftigt. Wenn du z.B. die Rohstoffgewinnung innerhalb Deutschland beschreibst und sie mit anderen europäischen Staaten vergleichst, beschäftigt sich ein Teil deiner Arbeit mit einem europäischen Thema.
Kann ich auch mehrere Abschlussarbeiten innerhalb einer Ausschreibung einsenden?
Wenn du die Arbeiten innerhalb des erforderlichen Zeitraumes von Anfang 2015 bis Juni 2016 verfasst hast und diese Arbeiten einen europäischen Bezug haben, freuen wir uns auch auf mehrere Abschlussarbeiten von dir.
Wann erfahre ich wer die Preise gewonnen hat?
Mitte November werden die Sieger feststehen und informiert werden.
Meine Abschlussarbeit verfasste ich in einem Diplomstudium, also weder als Bachelor- noch als Master-Arbeit. Kann ich trotzdem am Preisausschreiben teilnehmen?
Ja, natürlich! Auf Basis der Studienrichtung und der Semesterwochenstunden stufen wir deine Arbeit entweder wie eine Bachelor- oder, in den meisten Fällen, wie eine Master-Arbeit ein.
